Last Saturday, the Montesdeoca Summer Tournament was celebrated with great enthusiasm at the Golf del Sur facilities. The day began with music and a breakfast courtesy of the organizers, creating a perfect atmosphere for the nearly 100 participants. The start took place promptly at 8:30 a.m. in a shot-gun format.
Tournament Results
Overall Winner: Edurne Lairihoy, with 36 points, closely followed by Anastacia Shevchenko, who tied with the same result and took second place on a tiebreaker.
Scratch Category: The winner was Jaume Montalat, with a spectacular round of 63 gross strokes (-9) and 45 points, demonstrating an excellent level of play. In second place, and as winner of the First Category, was Eugenio Vonk, a player from Costa Adeje, with 41 points and a total of 70 gross strokes (-2). The Adeje native won the first category with authority, but at no point was he able to overcome an immeasurable Jaume Montalat, who made 6 birdies in a row for a total of eleven total.
Second Category: Graeme Vacher won with 44 points, followed by José María Rodríguez, who earned 42 points, which also earned him the Senior Category award.
Special Activities and Awards
During the tournament, a fun challenge was held on the 11th hole, in which players had to hit their ball closer than our Head Pro, James Ferraby. Only seven players succeeded, and they were awarded a special gift from the organizers.
The awards ceremony was attended by the Mayor of San Miguel, Arturo González, accompanied by Mr. Rafael Baute, Councilor for Public Works and Infrastructure. Also present were Mr. Miguel Galindo, President of Golf del Sur, General Manager Aaron Galindo, and Asael Galindo, representing the course owners.
