Environmental policy

The General Management of Golf del Sur, fully aware of the scarcity of natural resources, especially water, in the Canary Islands and the environmental impacts derived from golfing, has made sustainability a priority within the framework of the new Master Plan for the course’s transformation.

Since 2004, we have implemented an environmental management system in accordance with the UNE-EN ISO 14001 standard, reaffirming our commitment to continuous improvement, environmental responsibility, and the harmonious integration of the course with its natural and landscape surroundings.

In this new phase, we have reinforced this policy by appointing a specialized team responsible for periodically supervising and reviewing our activities, products, and services. This review is conducted based on criteria of environmental excellence, resource efficiency, and regulatory compliance, thus driving a constant evolution toward a more responsible and modern course.

The new Master Plan includes strategic interventions that seek to optimize water use through efficient irrigation technology, reduce the water footprint, and restore the original landscape with native species adapted to the local climate. Likewise, the use of sustainable materials and low-impact techniques is prioritized in the renovation of fairways, greens, benches, practice areas, and paths.

Aware of the ecological value of our surroundings, especially due to its proximity to the San Blas Special Nature Reserve, our environmental management system is based on:

  • Pollution prevention
  • Minimization of negative impacts
  • Optimization of consumption
  • Conservation of local biodiversity
  • Promotion of the circular economy and clean energy

We are committed to comprehensive management that encompasses the three pillars of sustainability: social, economic, and environmental, always with the goal of providing an authentic and respectful playing experience and increasing the satisfaction of players, visitors, and the local community.

Likewise, we are firmly committed to complying with all current legal and environmental requirements, as well as any regulations or benchmark standards applicable to our activities.

Our vision also translates into ongoing awareness-raising and training efforts for the entire Golf del Sur team, so that every daily action contributes to respect for the environment and compliance with this policy.

This policy will be reviewed and updated annually, adapting to the changing realities of the course, the sport, and the tourist destination in which we operate, consolidating Golf del Sur as a benchmark in the Canary Islands for sustainability, landscape, and golf experience.

Scope of the environmental management system

Based on requirement 4.3 of the UNE-EN ISO 14.001:2015 standard, our organization must determine the limits and applicability of the EMS to establish the scope of the study.

The UNE EN ISO 14001:2015 standard applicable to our field has the scope of our activities, products and services, as well as the following infrastructure: Club House, golf course and machinery park.

In addition, within the scope of our EMS, the context of the organization, the needs and expectations of the interested parties and the legal requirements or other requirements applicable to our sector have also been considered.
