Our Headgreenkeeper Carlos Francisco gives us details of the maintenance work for this annual closing.
From today, June 2nd, until June 15th, Golf del Sur will be closed for the necessary annual maintenance work on its turf. This work covers all turf areas, including the greens, tees, fairways, and roughs.
The tasks to be carried out will be:
Aeration, which seeks to decompact the soil, which leads to better penetration of oxygen, water, and nutrients into the soil, resulting in a healthier root system.
Scarification, removing part of the “mattress” layer (thatch), which is dead roots and organic matter that can cause loss of water and nutrient penetration and promote disease.
Topdressing, which is the contribution of necessary sand combined with necessary amendments to provide the essential nutrients to the lawn.
With all these updates, we’ll be back on June 16th with improved playing surfaces and other changes and improvements being made to the course in parallel.
